Mobile

taiku works on phones and tablets with a touch-optimized interface. Join any session from a mobile browser — no app install required.

On mobile, one terminal is visible at a time. Swipe left or right to switch between terminals, or tap the dot navigation bar at the bottom.

A special keyboard bar appears above the virtual keyboard with keys that are hard to reach on mobile:

  • Quick keysEsc, Tab, -, |, /, ~ as single taps
  • Fan menus — hold a key group to expand options, then swipe to select:
    • Control combos: Ctrl+C, Ctrl+D, Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+L, Ctrl+R
    • Arrow keys and word navigation
    • Selection and clipboard actions

Quick-tap repeats the last-used option from each group. Hold to see all options.

Three selection modes, toggled from the keyboard bar:

  • Off — normal terminal interaction
  • Line mode — drag to select full lines
  • Character mode — drag to select individual characters

Selected text is automatically copied to the clipboard.

Peek, tunnels, and chat panels appear as bottom sheets on mobile — swipe up to expand, tap outside to dismiss. The file viewer goes full-screen.

The layout adjusts dynamically when the virtual keyboard opens, keeping the active terminal visible without overlap. taiku tracks the actual visible viewport height rather than relying on CSS viewport units.
